Get more followers on Instagram using Highlights

You want your highlights to be a good representation of you, your business, and the content you create on Instagram.

Highlights are an often-overlooked, powerful tool to turn someone coming to your profile for the first time into a new follower. Since highlights take up significant real estate when you first click on a user’s profile, they’re often explored by new potential followers.

I go through my own highlights often and try to view them through the eyes of a potential follower. Do my highlights serve as a good representation of me and my business? Is there something I’m working on that isn’t properly represented, or that’s totally missing?

Highlights are great for informing your followers about all of the places they can find you online. It’s a much more effective marketing strategy because you’re able to tell more of a story to your potential audience member.

For example, if you have a YouTube channel, instead of throwing the link in an overcrowded LinkTree, you can have a highlight dedicated to your YouTube channel. I recommend carefully crafting each highlight so that it tells a story. So for your YouTube highlight, you might have some clips talking about what kinds of videos you post and some clips with excerpts from videos. You can include your YouTube username throughout. Once you hit 10k, you can even include a swipe up link to direct people to your channel.
